Pastoral Leadership History

Our founding members planted seeds of faith through which God is still blessing us today. As we remember the cherished deeds of the past, let us not lose sight of the vision of our church.

Here's a brief outline of the church history.

• Original name of the church was Growing Valley Baptist Church-1947
• Name of church was changed to Second Baptist Church -1948
• Property on Calhoun Street purchased under leadership of Rev. Leroy Davis
•  Property purchased on Burr Street to build a church-1970
• Burning of Mortgage -1987
• Church moved to Second Chances - 2017
• Church moved to current location on Grace Street

Our vision is a picture of a better future for Second Baptist Church, informed by the principles of Scripture, and supplemented by direct communication from God. In other words, we can always know in general what God wants for the church because the Bible tells us God's will.  Motto:  MAKE MORE DISCIPLES
